The polishing cloth always come with the pieces

I believe there was no leather wallet with this packing. I think your piece is quite early based on your card type, But I can't tell exactly without the serial number.

Buying second-hand Journe from private seller.

 By: Lankysudanese : August 26th, 2023-20:21
My sincere apologies that my only two posts in the Journe forum are about soliciting advice, but buying FPJ pieces from boutiques/ADs is hard to achieve, and this remains such a wonderful forum where fellow collectors help each other I have a few question...

I would run.

The seller isn't telling you a lot if he says this is a new watch but sold without the usual things a new watch comes with. I have a cb from the first year of production and it came with similar box and accoutrements to the CS you are looking at. The two ...

Thanks for the prompt response.

I’m now confirming the provenance with Journe HQ, and I assume it’ll check out just fine. But even if it does, I’m very particular about getting the full package (with all ‘accoutrements’) and this may just erk me and ruin the entire ownership experience....

If you have any chance of selling, make 100% sure you have a full set.

I don't remember about the warranty, so I didn't comment there, my apologies.

Excellent advice.

As an FYI for another people wondering the same question: the warranty (and warranty extension) are transferrable

I will be not of great help as my Journe purchase dates back to 2010. There was no USB card at the time, The warranty card was in a simple plastic folder but there was a small cloth.

If the watch is in good condition and keeps time accurately, the pricing fair, having the box, warranty card and some papers, it already makes a quite good package.

I buy to own and enjoy, as opposed to flipping.

That being said, life is unpredictable and tastes change; I’d hate to be in a position where I have a lot of explaining to do Besides, that large wooden box is just so so nice 😍

My CS came with similar packaging quite a few years ago

I'd say you are getting adequate insurance that it's genuine. If you are happy with the watch and the deal, why not? In my experience, ADs are relatively loose in controlling the small items. As am I when selling a watch I forget it came with two straps s...

Thanks cazalea. That’s a wonderful piece you have.

 By: Lankysudanese : August 26th, 2023-21:18
The seller didn’t strike me as one to misplace those sorts of accompaniments, and isn’t claiming that he lost them. That’s just what was given to him. The issue is that in our discussion, it became clear that all his other timepiece acquisitions included ...

The small items are peanuts IMO

I have never traded an FPJ, but in my many experiences in trading in watches to get other ones, I have found that the first thing dealers ask for in many cases, before even looking at the watch, is the guaranty card surprisingly. Then the watch, finally t...

Excellent advice.

I checked the watch out in person, and examined the dial, case and caseback with a loupe. It checks out (it’s not like it’s easy to produce counterfeit FP Journe timepieces…I think)

NOS

 By: WatchNerd : August 27th, 2023-06:10
I think the seller got a NOS from the AD. Based on the box and card type, this piece should have been shipped to AD before 2017, but it never got sold or registered until 2021. All pieces from Journe after 2017 are coming in the small square box. Hope tha...

Very helpful indeed. Does Journe HQ send the watches in the box, or just the watch and the AD boxes it upon arrival?

 By: Lankysudanese : August 27th, 2023-07:50
Was there a leather wallet and polishing cloth in the package of pre-2017 watches? Hoping you know.

The polishing cloth always come with the pieces

Thanks for your help

I would wait and just buy it direct from the FPJ boutique...

 By: patrick_y : August 27th, 2023-07:01
Be patient. Watch store inventories are rising as demand is slowing down from its all time highs.

I’m halfway through waiting for my Principia (I changed my dial color twice, so extended the wait by 2 more years) and Frodsham (2 years into the 6 year wait), so…

 By: Lankysudanese : August 27th, 2023-07:52
my patience is close to running out. And the local Journe boutique has no shortage of billionaires courting the management and sales staff at all times. So I’d say my chances are slim But I do agree that the markets are softening: hence this proposition a...

I understand!

If you are really in love, go get it

If you are ready to pay a premium, the conditions and set look fine, you need no further investigations. But according to your recent posts, you are still doubtful. Perhaps your last purchase has left you more cautious about seller's statements (watches a...

I agree with what've you said.

 By: Lankysudanese : August 27th, 2023-17:45

are you buying at am much higher price than MSRP ?

 By: christianch : August 27th, 2023-10:02
It is very obvious that some missing parts (even the cloth) is bothering you. So it is possible that after the acquisition you won't be pleased. The fact that you are considering a sale/trade already is not a good sign. I would generally not buy used but ...

I am no expert, but it seems that if you don’t have

 By: Darron : August 27th, 2023-17:07
Some inkling of connection with a boutique, it would be unlikely to get a piece at msrp.

1000% true; I haven’t owned a Journe so no connection with any boutique.

 By: Lankysudanese : August 27th, 2023-17:17
I used to visit with the the LA boutique staff frequently back in 2015-2017, but the staff have been replaced and I moved thousands of miles away.

"I would generally not buy used but if I do, it has to be below MSRP"

 By: Lankysudanese : August 27th, 2023-17:48
. I lived by this rule for 20 years. And i never wanted to break it. But a neighbor and close friend has slowly influenced me to consider "changing my ways". after all, this particular proportion was being offered at 7% above MSRP+VAT

Hi again Hussam

…sorry for being late to the thread. I just read through it and don’t have much to add from what has been said. It sounds like you have already established that the watch is not stolen and that manufacture warranty will cover you. Condition is satisfactor...

I have to admit that as soon as I read about the cloth😅 I had to find out where did I leave my Laurent Ferrier Sport Cloth that comes with the watch..

 By: christianch : August 27th, 2023-16:46
and I found it in my bag 😅 I had a chance to buy a Journe in 2015 from the boutique (I think the same model) but I passed and today is pretty much impossible. That's fine but I wouldn't pay over MSRP no matter what, no matter which brand. This is rule #1....

Always appreciate your input, Christian.

Believe it or not, the collector himself gave me the same advice: “buying an expensive luxury watch has to be a complete experience, so if this is going to be an incomplete experience, don’t buy it from me” So, I’m ok with that. However, it’s hard to come...

I think your gut feeling is what you need to follow. Not our opinions.

 By: ChristianDK : August 27th, 2023-20:15
And I agree. Never, ever buy unseen. It have been burned so badly in the past as well. I know how it feels. So, no it will not be easy to find an other one. Regarding your question: No, not normal at all. On the other hand sometimes I have heard of rare a...

I would say it depends...

 By: christianch : August 28th, 2023-03:11
the reality is that before the hype F.P. Journe pieces were difficult to move for ADs. Less difficult for their own boutiques. This said, as you did verify @ Journe that all is okay with the watch this shouldn't be an issue. So if I am not mistaken you di...

Thanks!

I saw and handled the watch. What led to ask about the other “small things” was examination under a loupe: the numerals and hands all had significant smudge marks. This is the version with applied white gold numerals

👌🏿

Updates: the watch turned out to have no records with FP Journe HQ and when I checked out another [genuine] platinum CS…

 By: Lankysudanese : August 29th, 2023-18:09
It was clear that the dial, numerals, hands, movement and case of the two watches was night and day [different]. The watch mentioned in this thread just didn’t feel “special” and the hands and numerals had smudges and the movement shine was “off”. So I mo...

It was another purist who told me to check with Journe HQ.

We’ll never find out, which shows you what a scary world we live in
