Bulgari

My new number one?!

For almost ten years now, my Patek Philippe 7200R London Edition has been my favourite watch but this title may be shifting to my latest acquisition - the Daniel Roth Ultra Thin in rose gold.  When I first set eyes on this watch, I knew immediately that it would be a part of my six watch collection. My first thoughts were should I sell my car (an option never before considered as I love my M2 Competition) but I have since decided that I will sell two watches instead. You see, at this period of my life, this passion of mine has to be self financing so an acquisition must be financed by a sale.

Back to the Roth, in my eyes this watch is as close to perfection as it gets. From the dial and case that blend so well with my skin tone, from the short curved lugs that wrap around my small wrist, from the supple leather strap that need to be worn to be believed, the ultra smooth winding crown and lastly the beautifully finished movement which to be honest, I have only ogled at twice since the acquisition five days ago. I say only twice because it is the dial that stands out in my opinion. The rose gold chapter ring against the grey guilloche pin stripe background works wonders as do the discreet arrow hands.

Now I have had heard that the dial is not layered like the original in the early 90s and that it is 1mm thicker than the original which had an automatic Frederic Piguet movement but I am genuinely pleased and content with this latest version. It was the only piece available in South East Asia and I am glad to be the proud owner of this watch.

Daniel Roth was one of my favourite brands in the 1990s but I had to sell my three Daniel Roth watches (including a tourbillon) in 1997 to finance a marriage. That marriage failed and I vowed that one day, I would buy a Roth again. It has taken me 28 years but the wait has been worth it.  Thank you for reading.

My actual watch!
