Maitres du Temps - Chapter Two

When I placed my order with Daniel Roth (the man) for a Jean Daniel Nicolas tourbillon back in 2007 I had never even heard of Maitres du Temps. None of us had. MdT lauched its Chapter One watch at Basel in 2008 and then its Chapter Two at Basel in 2009. The Chapter One had and has a wow factor, but considering the price tag and its extreme size, it is a watch I just won't/can't ever consider. But when I learned that Daniel was one of the "Masters" associated with Chapter Two  and that it was going to be a "simpler" and smaller watch, I waited for the unveiling with excitement.

I wasn't disappointed. The case kept its proportions, but was brought down to a reasonable and wearable size. The trademark roller display was still present, and, being less complicated, the price point is reasonable.

Technically, I like that the day and date change instantaneously at midnight. MdT delivers on thier advertising that this is the most legible triple calendar on the market.

Aesthetically, I like the mix of alternative display for the month and day with the use of the rollers, with the very classical dial.

To my pleasant surprise, these watches are now at a retailer near me, and I got the chance to spend some time with them.  My photos do not capture the attention to detail in the finishing of the case, or of the fineness of the movement. I promise to revisit these watches and do better for a more in-depth report. Meanwhile, enjoy the best of the photos if did get!
