It does help sometimes to have limited funds so one has to decide what stays and what goes. It makes one treasure each and every watch that remains in the collection. I just hope both the Montblanc and Patek do ok at the auction. I worry sometimes with the Montblanc despite its rarrity and amazing quality - you know how people discriminate when it comes to a watch with the Montblanc name. And as for the Patek, one sold a few weeks ago at a ridiculously high price at Christies New York. I am hoping the person who did not win the watch makes a reappearance when my watch come up for sale!

I noticed my thread being moved from Independents to Bulgari. Is there a reason for this as I never considered my Daniel Roth to be a Bulgari?! Surely it is now part of the LVMH group as the Bulgari ownership ended in 2011!

please PM me. It still has its Montblanc warranty and I agree that its movement is quite something, arguably even of a higher finishing quality that the Daniel Roth.

I think we're in a golden era of LVMH watches where they are investing a ton of resources into the actual products and really putting out great pieces at the top end while they aren't pressured by volume.

LVMH has certainly raised the bar when it comes to the quality of the high end watches within their group. Whether or not the collectors can appreciate this is a different matter but I feel it would be an opportunity lost not to acquire a quality product ...
Agreed! I totally get the visceral reaction to anything put out by an LVMH brand, I feel it too, but in some ways that's what makes these so special.
Maybe years from now when they are outputting 20k+ watches / year we'll look back and think about how great the early pieces were

I certainly hope the volume never gets to 20k per annum. Exclusivity helps to make these watches more desirable.
Haha, sorry, I was just being facetious because I think that's what some expect from LVMH. All the DR models they've released so far are limited and too highly finished to be produced at scale so I imagine they will keep it that way.
