Hi,
I have been looking for my next watch for the last few months and I have narrowed it down to two watches. Neither, unfortunately are inventoried at local ADs so I have no chance to touch either. I am purchasing based on a "cyber-impression". The two watches are:
Glashutte Original Senator Power Reserve Display 100-01-03-02-14
Jaeger-Lecoultre Master Calendar 151.81.2A
Both are great watches made by top manufacturers. The GO is ~$1,000 more than the JLC, despite having fewer movement complications. This is not a major decision factor, but has me wondering about the watches relative quality or the scale of manufacture of each company (JLC may make more watches and have a lower COG).
On the other hand the GO has twin barrels and a longer power reserve. They are available from different ADs. Both have been extremely helpful, so there is no edge there. They both "speak to me" and I could be happy with either. My current mechanical watches are a Ball EMII Diver Chronometer, Sinn 756 UTC Diapal Chronograph and a Stowa Antea 365 Chonometer. 2 sport/tool type watches and a dress watch. This will be my first in-house movement watch. I am looking for something refined, classic that walks the line between dress and sport. I also would like a complication that I do not already own.
Since some of you have possibly owned both of these makes of watches, I am curious as to which you would choose and why? I will obviously make the final decision on my own. I am hoping there are aspects of the watches or ownership that you might bring to light that might be insightful in guiding me to my decision.
Life should be full of such tough decisions!
Appreciated as Always,
Bob
