Was this a cousin to the Scirocco? . . .
. . . we had the VW here Stateside, but not the A2. We didn't even get the A3 here until the current generation. I remember seeing just two of the very handsome earlier models (and both with German plates), including one parked on my street.
On my trip to Montreal, back in '01, though, A3's were to be seen everywhere. Apparently, Audi NA wasn't able to bring them into the US, but Canada - no problem. Go figure.
