Some days ago on the race track Bilster Berg
Sep 01, 2021,16:53 PM
So for the first time I tracked my Alfa 4C (race edition with 240 hp and 895 kg) on a german track called Bilster Berg. The track is in the center of Germany, nearly 5km long and very technical: a roller-coaster-like left turn, several hills you cannot see beyond and a very long left curve allowing high speed of >200 km/h. And many many s-curves with hills up and down....
The event was an open pitlane situation with 30 cars allowed on track and 40 overall registered. Track time was from 9-13 and 15-18 and you were allowed to drive as many laps and as often as you wanted, or could, or your car let you.
Unfortunately the weather in the morning was very wet, thus not a good track condition on a new to me and difficult to memorize track. After 3 hours the rain stopped and the track got dry. After 3 further hours I had killed my tires. On the other hand three other had wrecked their cars over the day (M3, R8 and 991) but luckily without injuries. I had to catch my 4C several times on the wet track but later on she behaved pretty well and I was able to keep the 911s at distance (with less than half HP but also half weight). Some Lotus Seven were really quick though....
My conclusion: I will return next year at least once, now knowing that track. It has a better layout for my Alfa than Nurburgring and is much more technical compared to rather flat tracks which we have in the north of Germany. In case you live in Europe and like that kind of stuff (i.e. have a track car) you should pay a visit to the homepage and check some videos ;-)
