This is a car which always fascinated me. Its super big engine ( for our European standards, at least ), its power, the brutal behavior of the whole are just mesmerizing. Not the most refined, nor the most sophisticated, but this car has a cool and a wow factor which is hard to put in words.

In real life, this car doesn't seem that big nor large. It is surprising.

A real character.

The first generation was brutal and rough around the edges…

But the final one always an incredibly capable and rapid (on a track) super car. Quite a feat and quite a car.

First gen was horrid, the much later gens far better.

Yes i've driven a few, as am living on the Crazy Side of the Pond. POWER.... but what is this thing called 'handling' or 'control'. Who cares!!! It goes straight, YES. More of that!!! LOL Later ones are pretty darn scary but not toooooo bad. Corvette imho...

It’s a raw car to start with

No point in trying to teach it good manners, because then the side pipes will go, insulation will be added, traction control, people will ask for a sound system, Apple Car Play, heated seats, etc. Would you want to ADD 100-200 kg to your Alpine? I think n...

rather frequently, not so much anymore. There are still a few around where I live, they come out on a nice day to drive through the park, or go to the Plaza.

I used to play with this car

on my computer, a game called Need For Speed on Amiga 500. This was my favorite car, 7.9 liters of pure torque, it was reaally hard to keep the car straight. Should be fun to drive one for real.

It IS FUN to drive

but I'm afraid I really didn't look at the Challengers, I was all over the Vipers.

Hi Nico,

I rented one of these in Miami back in 2007. I hadn’t driven a manual gearbox car in a while - or stick shift as it’s called in the US. I couldn’t believe that I was so bad in missing the 1st to 2nd change - kept going into 4th from 1st. When my son and I...

I had similar thoughts, though my garage mix was slightly different!

While the Hummer was fun off-road, the 70-100 miles of driving each way to mountains and desert were a drag, not to mention the parking issues. At that time I had the Rampside which was quirky enough for me without the total lunacy of the Hummer. So I set...

Fantastic! My Father worked for IH, so we always had Scouts.

My first vehicle was a 1978 Scout II. It wasn’t until my1985 RX-7 did I realize how abusive the Scout’s suspension was. It was like riding in a buckboard over the mountain pass. You could feel each expansion joint on I-70. I have no illusions of the punis...

I got a pimped-out Jeepster instead of the Hummer

Then foolishly sold this to a pal (because it didn't have power steering so my wife couldn't drive it) Only 4x4 power convertible top sold in America! (in the Sixties) Cazalea PS the Butch Jeepster Commando ...

No, the red one was like that when I bought it, though not running well. I did the electrical and mechanical stuff to get it going after it had sat in a warehouse/collection for years. ...

I understand your lamentation of letting that beauty go. You sent her along with a little bit of you left inside.

The hardest part of building or creating something is letting it go. You made that Jeepster complete. It was close, but not ready until you were done fixing. I’ve had less than ten cars/trucks in my whole life. Thank you for sharing!

Look for a Craig’s list add for a 2001 model

It might be the funniest advertisement ever written by someone selling a used car. Cheers Wojo
