Wrist Scan's memorial for Jeff Beck . . .

Jan 20, 2023,11:09 AM

. . . starts now.

Jeff was one of the all-time bests.  Got to see him perform once forty years ago; unforgettable.  There's video footage of the encore performed with some of his pals.

As luck would have it we left early to beat traffic, so the once-in-a-lifetime chance of seeing Beck, Page, and Clapton playing together was missed.

Forty years passed, never to experience his magic again.  And now, he's gone.  Hard to believe, harder to accept.

Jeff was a maestro throughout his career - he apparently never lost his touch.

This concert footage is from ten years ago . . . every bit as brilliant a player as he was when I saw him in '83.  One of the fondest memories of my life was seeing Jeff on stage with so many other greats - Eric, Jimmy, Ray, Charlie, Bill, Andy, Joe, and others.  What I wouldn't give to relive that moment.

Please share your memories of Jeff and other favorite guitarists along with the watch on your wrist.  I'm wearing my ca '53 Ω ref 2608 . . .

. . . today.

. . . Jimi's untimely passing. Remarkable that fifty years on he's still regarded as the best ever by critics. I'm not sure there can be a 'best' when it comes to an essentially subjective endeavor; on any given day, I might say Jimmy Page was the best, a...

The U2 'Joshua Tree' Concert, Nov 2019

Being a lifelong U2 fan, this was the best concert of my life! Went with 2 mates, both fellow WIS. Since we knew it was going to be warm and humid here in the tropics, we decided to go with steel watches on bracelets, and make it a Genta theme. So we woun...

The Bluegrass guitar legend Tony Rice was not only a fan of the Accutron Spaceview but a collector and accomplished repairman of the 214. An article published by Hodinkee outlines his obsession with the watch. ...

I like this video of Beck giving the middle finger during an awards ceremony:

Great guitarists of that era, there are so many, some no longer alive: Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townshend, Brian May, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, George Harrison, Ronnie Wood, Maury Muehleisen. For my money though, it'll have to be Eric Clapton. Here's a charmi...

Thanks, Art, for that clip. It was very much to my taste! I don't understand how one can sing and play that intricate guitar work at the same time!

 By: Ruffian : January 22nd, 2023-00:08
Never heard of Scotty Moore. But very interesting reading about him. Thanks. The other backing guitarists I like are the ones on Springsteen's E Street Band, Steven van Zandt and later, Nils Lofgren.

Still going strong …

I was very lucky with the FF which is a watch in my wish list for many many long years. The Benrus modern re-issue is an affordable piece which faithfully follows the design of the original though of course lacks the charm of vintage. I’m very happy with ...
