The WS for the 14th of July - ‘Favorite Brands’ - is live
Jul 15, 2023,05:29 AM
As announced on Thursday this weekend’s WS theme is favorite brands. While most of our collections are filled with watches of many brands it is quite likely that some of those, their stories and ours with them, lead to a higher appreciation.
So let’s see your favorite brand(s) this weekend, can definitely be more than one.
The WS will run till Sunday night as usually and judges and verdicts will get posted in a separate thread subsequently.

And here are mine…
By: KMII : July 15th, 2023-05:47
It all started - just like my time here - with Chopard. The LUC Chrono One was my first serious watch and the appreciation for the brand remains. They do many less visible or glamorous things, such as a service turnaround in two weeks as opposed to the nu...
Tough challenge my friend,
By: Watchonthewrists : July 15th, 2023-08:11
not easy to pick just a few fav brands as most of us think the brands in there collection are most of the time there fav I guess. Like some of you know i love Independent brands and with a few of them i have a special relationship . CvdK A brand that star...
Different than your take?
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-12:19
I find they are still in the process of finding their place. The movement finishing initially wasn’t exactly top notch but then given that to an extent they saw themselves competing with brands that didn’t bother about it, either 🤷🏻♂️ Their case finishin...
Hmmhh !.. A bit late this time.. but let me see how to play..
By: hs111 : July 16th, 2023-11:41
😉 I‘ll focus on just 4 brands, JLC, as my main collection topic, then Rolex, PP and finally although small in numbers – Breguet.. Fine and cool choice.. The Triple Calendars always have been a strength of JLC Simply a classic — Geophysic Reverso Duo Face ...
How could we not like them? 👍🏻👏🏻👌🏻
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-12:21
Sublime choices from four truly classic brands! Your JLC collection is superb (missing the Duometre here), wasn’t aware that the 5172 joined your collection (congratulations) and the Rolex and Breguet collections of yours have some true classics 👌🏻👍🏻 ...
Thx a lot, dear KMII for kind looking and the nice comments !
By: hs111 : July 16th, 2023-12:31
As far as the Duometre is concerned, you are right, it might as well have appeared here, as yes, it is a piece near to my heart, but there had to be a limit, as I didn‘t wanr to „ramble“ around.. I liked your examples as well, the Chopard LUC Chrono Flyba...
And their recent launches are pretty cool…
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-13:51
Habring2 I mean. The Duometre is one of the few launches from a major brand in the last years that I really found exciting and fresh 👌🏻👍🏻
A wow as always from you 🤩👏🏻👍🏻
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-05:36
Before I start with the comments - Lange has started leaving markets? 😱 It certainly makes for a wonderful, classical choice, movement and dial side and certainly one you can hardly go wrong with 👌🏻 Love how Longines is harvesting its very rich heritage a...
Your love for Longines…
By: Cpt Scarlet : July 16th, 2023-10:16
Is refreshing in a complex market for brands. The brand has a rich history that deserves to be revived and rediscovered.
Hi KM.
By: Timeout : July 15th, 2023-13:54
I’m going to have to go with the brand where I have made the greatest number of purchases - seems logical to me - Lange. I’ve also managed to lay my hands on a 1st generation Datograph - incoming. ...
Thanks Abel.
By: Timeout : July 16th, 2023-13:32
There’s plenty to choose from within the Lange family. The consistency of the finishing on all is impressive. You can’t really go wrong with any of the choices - even if you stray off the beaten track as I did with my choice of the Saxonia Annual Calendar...
One heavy hitter after another 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-05:39
You start right off with my favorite from the brand, the Zeitwerk. Not that there’s anything to be faulted with the rest but this has always struck me as the true genius 🤩👌🏻👍🏻
Many thanks KM.
By: Timeout : July 16th, 2023-13:44
The striking time is a real star! It wears well - even at 44mm+. The consistency of the beauty of the movements is impressive. Even the Saxomat - which doesn’t get as much love as others - has attention to detail that you just don’t see from other brands ...
I can get my three favorites . . .

Any direction especially?
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-06:51
Lovely piece indeed! How are their PCs for setting (i.e. if not constantly worn or on a winder)?
Three choices …
By: Cpt Scarlet : July 16th, 2023-10:27
That cover practically any real world scenario. Good call Art.
Those are wonderful, Art.
By: gpinto75 : July 16th, 2023-15:18
I've wanted to try a Dornbluth for years. Your posts are motivating me to try harder. Thank you.
The experience dealing with Dirk and his team . . .

My favorite brand
By: gpinto75 : July 15th, 2023-18:56
Two so far, but it's early in the relationship. Thanks for hosting, KM. HAGWE, all. ...
Hello Greg! Welcome to WS. Nice to have you participating.
By: Subexplorer : July 15th, 2023-23:26
Two beautiful Moser watches you share. They have such a distinctive design and awesome dials. Ate you planning a new addition to your Moser collection? Keep enjoying and loving them so much! Best cordial regards Abel
It's nice to be here.
By: gpinto75 : July 16th, 2023-00:08
Thank you, Abel. Moser makes at least a handful that I'd like someday to add if things allow that. Perhaps something from the Streamliner or Heritage lines. We'll see. My best o you, too. Greg
The shots are sublime!
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-05:46
And you have chosen some of the choicer morsels from them, too! In addition to following their own marketing moniker of very rare, they really make some fine, innovative choices 👌🏻👍🏻
Thank you, KM.
By: gpinto75 : July 16th, 2023-07:00
I agree: the innovation, quality, style, limited production, and attitude of Moser have made the brand my favorite. As for the shots, I appreciate you kind words and thank goodness for the great cameras on smart phones. Have a wonderful weekend.
Fabulous ! …
By: Cpt Scarlet : July 16th, 2023-10:30
and I concur with you ;-) … ...
My pleasure …
By: Cpt Scarlet : July 16th, 2023-19:04
Great watches !
Beautiful timepieces from Breguet you share Spangles.
By: Subexplorer : July 15th, 2023-23:36
These are timeless watches which connect with classic designs of its prestigious past. I like this brand so much for that. The Secret Signature is a charming detail as well. I feel that the watch you show with this traditional feature deserves a full shot...
Beautiful indeed!
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-05:48
And so distinctive irrespective of the trends. Really enjoy that aspect of them. Hopefully someday I will join you there 👌🏻👍🏻🤞🏻
Hello dear friend KM! Thank you for hosting this weekend.
By: Subexplorer : July 15th, 2023-19:51
A great Theme we haven’t explored before. My first love with a watch brand when I was a lad in the early 1960’s is Rolex. A love I have kept since today in spite that I’m disappointed with their present marketing policy which makes so difficult to get the...
Good old days…
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-14:55
Sadly I don’t see them returning any time soon 🤷🏻♂️
Great choices …
By: Cpt Scarlet : July 16th, 2023-16:35
We share so much love for these brands. I must redress the balance and mention Panerai …. ...
Favourite? Ah, such a nuanced word!...
By: pplater : July 16th, 2023-05:43
Just about any brand that is an independent brand, an eponymous brand, is a 'favourite' because of the artisanship and tradition that they represent. And of the modern-day independents, those who spring to mind as the preferred house aesthetic include Duf...
😂😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-06:54
For many of us there’s the same driver, when it comes to this particular brand 😊👍🏻 And what a lovely collection you show here! I know it’s sometime like choosing your favorite child but which of the pieces do you like the best?
Each brings something different to the table…
By: pplater : July 16th, 2023-07:15
The MUT is iconic, and this WG/ruthenium combination is unusual. The TTPs have the Amanico special sauce, and matching numbers. The Amvox was incredibly expensive, because of course it was necessary to buy the matching car. The one that gets most wrist ti...
Difficult choice
By: jml_watches : July 16th, 2023-07:42
Hi All Difficult choice - but I'd definitely include JLC But also Oris, this one you don't even need to see the name And Seiko I could go on Cheers JML ...
The good thing of being here for a long time…
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-09:16
Is that there are few surprises in this category 😊👍🏻 Great trio of brands and some fantastic specimen to show. The only thing I am surprised by is that in the Seiko segment you didn’t show the Urushi 😁👍🏻
Urushi follow up
By: jml_watches : July 16th, 2023-10:54
Was taken by the beer n watch montage - here's the Urushi 🙂 Cheers JML ...

A. Lange & Söhne
By: Saxon : July 16th, 2023-11:11
is my favourite brand by far. Unfortunately it turned out to be a unrequited love lately. ...
Thanks, K.
By: Saxon : July 16th, 2023-15:31
At least I have a few watches from the good old times on my wish list.
It’s all about the journey …
By: Cpt Scarlet : July 16th, 2023-11:55
Hello dear KM and friends, The journey with different watch brands has been a interesting and varied journey. Going back in in time my favourite brand was Rolex. I loved everything the Rolex brand stood for. One example of this was the support they gave a...

By: Jp75 : July 16th, 2023-12:09
A favourite of mine is definitively Vacheron Constantin. I finally came to Vacheron rather late in my watch journey, having first ‘discovered’ Patek and AP … and finally converged on VC. With their neo-vintage watches … .. their chronos … … and the versat...
Great selection 👌🏻

I have got into VC late too, but loving it a lot
Two more specials…
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-13:48
I will start with the latter - the need for a certain stealth I can fully understand, one reason that drew me to Chopard early on. Really like your BPs and they truly make for understated yet horologically very fulfilling companions 👍🏻👌🏻 I have a very sof...
1972 Prestige de La France?
By: Jp75 : July 16th, 2023-14:31
Very nice and rarely seen model you have here: is that a 1972 Prestige, isn’t? I don’t recall having ever seen once in the metal. 💭 🤔 🧐 Jerome
It is the 1972 indeed!
By: KMII : July 16th, 2023-14:50
There was a time that it was intensely ‘disliked’ - i.e. VC had a really hard time moving them. Now that it’s gone (no longer part of the catalog AFAIK) there is more demand 😂🤷🏻♂️ Very happy to have gotten it back in 2019. If your travels take you to Ger...

By: Jp75 : July 17th, 2023-09:05
Many thanks for your kind offer to see for real that very special watch. Might take you on that offer one day as (southern) Germany is one of the places we call home! Wishing you a good start into the week and lot of fun with the 1972! Cheers, Jerome

A currently favorite brand or one that has been liked for a while?
By: hora12reborn : July 16th, 2023-15:04
A brand I have liked for many years. But with today’s distribution policies, it has become more and more difficult to continue to like some brands contrarily to their watches. Bundling, kicking out long time AD’s, some haughty personnel of monobrand or fa...

Four beauties. Enjoy.
Great passion for the brand 😊👍🏻
By: KMII : July 17th, 2023-07:35
It’s nice to have both here - those for whom it’s clearly only one brand and those where it’s a handful 🙌🏻
