As announced on Thursday this weekend’s WS theme is favorite brands. While most of our collections are filled with watches of many brands it is quite likely that some of those, their stories and ours with them, lead to a higher appreciation. So let’s see ...  

It all started - just like my time here - with Chopard. The LUC Chrono One was my first serious watch and the appreciation for the brand remains. They do many less visible or glamorous things, such as a service turnaround in two weeks as opposed to the nu...  

not easy to pick just a few fav brands as most of us think the brands in there collection are most of the time there fav I guess. Like some of you know i love Independent brands and with a few of them i have a special relationship . CvdK A brand that star...  

And the selection is delectable, as expected. I guess the reasons will be similar - a much closer relationship, and more experimentation 👍🏻

Your choices to answer our Host KM theme is fantastic and it would be impossible for me to choose just one watch among them. But if I were pressed to choose one I would go for your DB in your second shot, pink/salmon dial and blued hand set makes it irres... 

The DB27 is indeed a special watch for me .

I find they are still in the process of finding their place. The movement finishing initially wasn’t exactly top notch but then given that to an extent they saw themselves competing with brands that didn’t bother about it, either 🤷🏻‍♂️ Their case finishin... 

😉 I‘ll focus on just 4 brands, JLC, as my main collection topic, then Rolex, PP and finally although small in numbers – Breguet.. Fine and cool choice.. The Triple Calendars always have been a strength of JLC Simply a classic — Geophysic Reverso Duo Face ...  

Sublime choices from four truly classic brands! Your JLC collection is superb (missing the Duometre here), wasn’t aware that the 5172 joined your collection (congratulations) and the Rolex and Breguet collections of yours have some true classics 👌🏻👍🏻 ... 

As far as the Duometre is concerned, you are right, it might as well have appeared here, as yes, it is a piece near to my heart, but there had to be a limit, as I didn‘t wanr to „ramble“ around.. I liked your examples as well, the Chopard LUC Chrono Flyba... 

Habring2 I mean. The Duometre is one of the few launches from a major brand in the last years that I really found exciting and fresh 👌🏻👍🏻

… dear friend HS!! And within these four emblematic brands you own several Masterpieces like that delicious 6542 GMT, that unique Type XX, Aquanaut and 5172 chrono or charming Explorer duo. Not to mention Reverso and Geophysic and Alarm JLC’s to complete ... 

I love their movement, finishing, case and dial design…they just sing to me. Next is Longines! Love most of their recent release as they package a lot of value and they fund to wear with their often vintage inspired release. Lastly, yes I know I must admi...

Before I start with the comments - Lange has started leaving markets? 😱 It certainly makes for a wonderful, classical choice, movement and dial side and certainly one you can hardly go wrong with 👌🏻 Love how Longines is harvesting its very rich heritage a... 

So in the short term no place for me to get them other then from a different country…

But that they are going fully down that route and are happy to lose customers in the process, well… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is refreshing in a complex market for brands. The brand has a rich history that deserves to be revived and rediscovered.

I’m going to have to go with the brand where I have made the greatest number of purchases - seems logical to me - Lange. I’ve also managed to lay my hands on a 1st generation Datograph - incoming. ...  

... it is usual in the Lang watches. Regret to say I still lack of a watch from this brand in my collection but I hope to fill the gap some day soon. They really are wonderful timepieces. Thank you for sharing here! Hagwe, Abel

There’s plenty to choose from within the Lange family. The consistency of the finishing on all is impressive. You can’t really go wrong with any of the choices - even if you stray off the beaten track as I did with my choice of the Saxonia Annual Calendar...

You start right off with my favorite from the brand, the Zeitwerk. Not that there’s anything to be faulted with the rest but this has always struck me as the true genius 🤩👌🏻👍🏻

The striking time is a real star! It wears well - even at 44mm+. The consistency of the beauty of the movements is impressive. Even the Saxomat - which doesn’t get as much love as others - has attention to detail that you just don’t see from other brands ... 

. . . in one photo. Dornblüth: a micro-manufacturer that offers aesthetic appeal and value . . . no mean feat. Grand Seiko: the manufacturer that offers exceptional finishing at reasonable cost . . . again, no mean feat. Omega: the symbol - Ω - says it al...  

... Dornbluth but I can say the looks of your watch is very tempting. Regrettably living in my Country makes very difficult to reach many interesting brands that collectors of other parts of the world can enjoy with ease. Thank you for sharing them here! ... 

. . . and the level of customization offered extensive. Not for everyone, but those drawn to them are devoted. On my way to my cue maker's shop to repair the most recent acquisition, Abel - it was built with an experimental modification that requires tend...

Lovely piece indeed! How are their PCs for setting (i.e. if not constantly worn or on a winder)?

. . . and I wouldn't recommend keeping one on a winder for extended periods as the wear and tear will lead to premature mechanical issues. As for the direction their product development evolved, my sense is that they reached far and wide but not deep. I'm...

Breguet Marine Chronograph in the rain Breguet Marine by the Lion’s Gate Secret Signature ...  

These are timeless watches which connect with classic designs of its prestigious past. I like this brand so much for that. The Secret Signature is a charming detail as well. I feel that the watch you show with this traditional feature deserves a full shot... 

And so distinctive irrespective of the trends. Really enjoy that aspect of them. Hopefully someday I will join you there 👌🏻👍🏻🤞🏻

A great Theme we haven’t explored before. My first love with a watch brand when I was a lad in the early 1960’s is Rolex. A love I have kept since today in spite that I’m disappointed with their present marketing policy which makes so difficult to get the...

The one thing I do not get is that the current marketing practices of one of the three discriminate even against long term loyal customers like you - hard to fathom the logic there. The pieces shown are sublime and great (in some cases also physically 😉) ... 

... for many decades during which you could visit an AD of the brand and find any model you choose at retail... and even with discounts! Lol! This drastically changed in the last say five or six years ago of course. Thank you so much for your kind complim...

The MUT is iconic, and this WG/ruthenium combination is unusual. The TTPs have the Amanico special sauce, and matching numbers. The Amvox was incredibly expensive, because of course it was necessary to buy the matching car. The one that gets most wrist ti...
