Not only is your's a genuinely wonderful story, the watch itself is a pure work of art, I absolutely love the aesthetics of it. Stepan remains my favorite independent watchmaker to this day. Sincere congratulations, and thank you for the wonderful wristsh...

That is exactly what I was asking for: what watches would you have loved to own earlier, in order to enjoy them longer. Your version of a La Tradition with a black dial in yellow gold (my favourite metal) is surely such a watch! Great details to dive into... 

... it was making an old dream come true to get it. When I was a teenager I was deeply involved with sport scuba diving and my dream was to have a Rolex Submariner. My parents presented me with a 5513 gilt gloss example for my 18th birthday in 1966, just ...  

A shocking situation, your gun point robbery, dear Abel! Horrible! The 5513 is a great reference and a cornerstone in any Rolex collection. Enjoy your Saturday night, my friend!

Yes, it was a horrible experience. Worst part of it was the loss of that beloved watch. Even if I presently own a very close example I still miss that one for its significance for me. Have a nice Sunday my dear friend!! Abel

I especially like your 5513! And my condolences for the loss of the original. I envy you the memories of growing up in the 1950s and 60s! Me, I wasn't born yet and can only hold these watches in my hands!

I still miss that watch so much. I’m happy to have lived in those decades. Specially the 1960’s was a fantastic decade full of big changes and discoveries. A more simple and romantic World I feel. A World long gone… Well, yes we still can hold and own and...

…but I could only afford to go down the vintage route as new ones were out of my then price range. The watch I really lusted after was a Rolex Explorer 1016 which, owing to an unexpected upturn in my financial circumstances, I was able to buy in the mid 8...

. . . but my pal Don has lots of project cars on his hands, not to mention a boat . . . . . . and repairs to his properties on the Nor Cal coast, so chances are good the Roadrunner will still be available when I'm finally ready to roll. ...

. . . not really feasible at the present, but eventually there will be time to concentrate on a proper build. One of my pals in So Cal is a junior partner in a Ferrari garage so I could build a project locally, or shop it out to my brother-in-law in Utah.... 

It’s a real passion project. I hope you manage to make it work for you one day.

If a watch can be related to private life and if it is of timeless beauty, than it deserves to be in the collection. Your AMVOXIi is such a piece. With a great racing aura and a design and feel that will stand the test of time. Nicely played!
