Not that easy to focus on one.. Here a Triple , practically all valuable,..
Oct 24, 2014,08:21 AM
.. each in their own way..
So I decided to just accompany for each, briefly the essence for them
Hope, you don't ban me - here my humble dwellings :
1/
.. when I first thought about it, my first emotion would go to a not that
fancy piece, but what I would call my " life watch":
- she was my first really piece of excellence, long before the years of " collecting",
- presented by somebody very dear -- she has been with me all over the world,
In tropic rain and in the desert, across oceans and on ski slopes
From great festive moments to hilarious laughing with friends & family
- in some dark hours and in most happy ones
Never has let me down, always there , trustworthy & well functioning;
Is the " better watch", I own longest, more than forty years of
uninterupted service, precision with excellence and still nice to look at.
Now, with many more time-pieces to choose from,
getting less wrist-time, but still in a regular rotation,
(especially when low key or casual or skiing is happening)..
Meet my good comrade and still happy choice:
My Rolex, Date with Jubilé bracelet, and black dial..
She is my most valuable piece over my life-time, connection to being, emotions, woes
and joys, travels and festivities...
Rolex Date .. My ' Life watch'..
2/
my second other " MVP" type, is a piece , presented to me by my wife
for a "round" birthday, a cool and exciting tic-tac, an icon and special one.
- a watch presented & shared by many here; it's one with lots of DNA,
- one with a special appeal, has it all for me;
Makels me feel good but still fascinates me with the history behind..
It's the JLC TT Polaris '68: a watch I really love, would neither sell
nor let go..
- My most valuable modern watch !..
A present of my wife.. The TTP - a desired icon

Finally , here something, I was so lucky to find, only some 4 years ago,
aided & encouraged by a very good friend here ( you know, who you are !)
She is my first Chrono, one of my first Vintages, and one from a famous brand,
a brand I've often strived for, also a brand with a rich past and a very
renowned presence in the watch world.
- Even more importantly, she came in a full set,
with a magnificent story, when she first had been been gifted, for
Christmas (1975) from one brother to his elder one !, with the original Xmas card
Here even with Extracts of Archives- paper, the original box, plus the old shopping bag !!
the whole pedigree & full set.
And the cherry on the cake, that to me she is an absolute beautie,
connected with friendship and kindness of a true friend...
True love still, and I look at her at least once a week !
Those Purists, who know me ( 2 special persons in particular), have witnessed
my happiness, and shared some of the pleasures !
Here is my beloved Breguet Type Twenty, Fly-Back Chronograph, Civilian version,
She is my most admired and appreciated Vintage time-piece., a true keeper
My most acclaimed & appreciated Breguet XX Vintage Chrono
If, and only if you force me, to choose just one
- well.. I would go with my Rolex Date, my life-watch...
But hopefully you might accept the Trio, as expression of how twisted and
inter- twined our pathways and perceptions of " value" often are..
Never easy, but always worth the effort !
- My humble 3 cents for this week
Best, and sincerely HAGWE, all
