This watch was a surprise to me. I had been not paying attention to watches for about a year to a year in a half after covid. So I must have missed this release. For a month, I had been on an exhaustive search for a VC tradionelle in platinum (boutiques have none, AD have none, cannot order...bummer). While searching some AD inventory I saw this LF and was immediately smitten.
I have been on the lookout for a Ti watch for sometime. I had figured it would end up being maybe an omega or a tudor since nothing was interesting. The new bathyscaphe is interesting but bigger than I want. I emailed VC boutique after I saw the everest come out, but that was too late (and understandably they were offered to people who spend 10x me on watches). So when I clicked on the origin and saw it was grade 5 Ti, with manual wind movement and that lovely dial. I wanted it. It reminded me back when I had a watchtime subscription and I first saw the Lf double spiral tourbillon - I loved it - the case shape, the dial, to fact that it had a hidden tourbillon, and the independent horology. That watch was (and is) out of my scope. But the origin opaline spoke to me. I like that it is a little more casual, which is my style. The watch is constructed so well and is just a joy to have.
I did contact some places about RG continuum but those are only 28 world wide and again I am no one in this circles so not available.
So this showed up in the cross hairs while looking for another watch, and ironically has a cross hair of sorts on the dial.
As far as finding it. I contacted the LF AD in usa. Most of them had one in stock online but on contacting them they were sold. This one had been on hold for someone who was taking weeks to wire money apparently. When I talked with the manager he said the client knew it had potential to get sold if someone else was ready. I wired the money. Next morning had a watch!
