... from favorite pictures.
You made me think about some unforgettable scenes of my favorite films which have left an indelible mark in my heart.
I choose three films from the 1960's which I feel are classics of that era and also classics of the XX Century films and tried to make a connection with some watches in my collection.
Let me tell about them here...
Who can forget the image of Honey Ryder (played by Ursula Andress) emerging from the Caribbean waters on the first James Bond film Dr. No, of 1962? Iยดm sure you canยดt forget that dear Art!
James Bond looked stunned by the sight of that wonderful mermaid wearing that famous white bikini and belt with hunting knife and singing "Under the Mango Tree" while examining her catch of a big conch she had retrieved from the sea.
The watch to remember this film is my ref 5508 Submariner
Another favorite film from 1968:
Bullit! Played by the great Steve Mc Queen who thrilled us driving his green 1968 Mustang through SF streets while pursuing that powerfull Dodge Charger.
I match that unforgettable film with a similar watch to the favorite of Mc Queen: Rolex Sub 5512.
Mine is not in a great condition but I feel nobody will say it lacks character! Lol!
Last but not least another favorite film from 1966: "Blow Up" by Michelangelo Antonioni and played by David Hemingway and beautiful Vanessa Redgrave.
Considered by cinephiles as one of the most intriguing and influential films of the XX Century and based on a short story by Argentine writer Julio Cortazar.
Film fans canโt forget those audacious for the epoch scenes of the shooting of internationally famous top model Veroushka.
In that awesome film The mysterious lady played by Vanessa Redgrave wore very charmingly and conspicuously a 5513 Submariner on a black leather straps so Iโm playing with my own 5513 gloss gilt dial from 1965/6.
Here my own 5513 on its original riveted Oyster bracelet:
Hope you like my film selection dear Art and friends!
Have you all a beautiful week end!
