Latch idea is nice!
I agree it's similar to Panerai Luminor system, but in that case the guard is obtrousive and winding is difficult, You should manage to keep it flush with the case.
It would be nice to feel the positional clicks: locked, winding, setting.
I think it's also important not to apply side forces on the shaft and onto the movement, maybe leaving some lateral yoke between lever and shaft so that lever force is applied on the crown in different points during the movement?

I like the concept. Two areas that would need consideration : 1. Could the lever catch on anything when in a locked position opening the crown inadvertently ? 2. The lever would need to

I like it.
It would require some practical tweaking and extensive testing, but i see potential. Personally, i don't take any watches even near water, so this system has no use for me, but objectively, this might be useful. And i hate the screw down crowns - the unce...

And imo it's not like the Panerai system because that's only a protective system and not an active system like your concept.
