So 8 million for stupid sneakers that were probably around 300 USD each when they were bought 2 lessons 1/ some guys really have too much money 2/ watches are ridiculous cheap 😉 ...

Well, $17.8m for a Daytona that was maybe $300 when originally bought.

I’d argue the sneakers are far more of an attractive trophy. I don’t recall how many changes of shoes MJ may have had in games but even still these shoes were on his feet in video, photos etc in front of hundreds of millions of people in historical games....

There’s a great story of Pete Rose

When he was due to break the (I think it was) all time bases on hits, wore like 8 undershirts which he later signed and sold. Story goes he could bearly move his arms when running.

It’s not that different

If Paul Newman owns a watch Bacs claims it’s somehow “important” and away we go. There’s a whole industry built around telling people (usually with more money than aesthetics) what they should like. Art collecting is built on the same concept of Provinanc...

Are a couple of those sneakers signed by MJ? That may make a little more sense…although not $8mil sense.

The sneakers were not even $300. Reissues of these (at least the 11s and 12s) go around $220. So back then, they were probably in 100s. MJ must find this all comical to some degree.

An incomplete set?

I wonder what happened to the other 6 sneakers? I doubt MJ kept those.

Humanity has been insane long before these sneakers sold for $8m.

I'll give the buyer a deal...

He can have 6 pair of my worn sneakers for a bargain of only 7 million. I'll even include free shipping!

at list they became way too expensive, or at least most of them. That aside secondhand and looking BEYOND the hyped pieces there can be found real bargains nowadays

Right now…

There is a poster on a sneaker collectors forum putting up a link to the latest watch auction highlights and saying “humanity is insane”, and you both would be correct.

Such as the great MJ 23 in red! He is the GOAT of basketball from 90’s to future! ...

These shoes were worn during historically significant basketball games.

While I think the prices are very high, I don't think they're that unreasonable! To a basketball fan who loves sneakers, this is somewhat justifiable. Keep in mind, it takes two people or more to bid things up. I'd probably pay a big amount of money for o...
