Suicidal tendancies?

I played the wheel years ago and am happy to say it's not for me.

Please let me unravel the notion that I'm a great player.  The people I play against have as much skill as myself, the only difference is the cards one is dealt.  Sure I took risks but, every hand I was dealt hit whether it was pocket pairs or unsuited two, three.  Players were angry I would play weak hands and win against their suited A,K.; I can't explain why, some people call it being hot, truly it was bizarre.  News is, the winning streak is over, I'm back to having to depend on cards, skill, luck with a dash of bluff.

I played on Saturday, five tables of eight. I wasn't getting good hands nor hitting what was on the board.  It was grim but after 90 minutes of mainly folding, the good cards started coming and my chips began building.  We were down to two tables; I was the chip leader at my table.  I was behind the dealer and dealt pocket aces, I was planning to make a hefty bet on my turn.  The third from the dealer went all in with 56K; everyone folded but myself.  I didn't want to make that big of a bet but was forced.  Now I was 56K into the pot with aces and 6k left.  My opponent had pocket fives.  : o

The flop was trash, the turn was trash and the river was a five!!!  There were gasps of unbelief from both of us and a wave of sound and movment radiating from our table.  I was shocked but not angry because it's free poker. These are social gatherings with an opportunity to pay for your food as well as win points to qualify for one of the three WSOPs.

My winning streak last year was mindboggling and that's the truth, but I am no better than any of my opponents. What it boiled down to was sheer luck.   Haha, the director was going to put up a place card on the table in front of me to warn new players and reminding the others that I was very lucky. lol.

When I saw the news about that British plane exploding into flames before takeoff from Las Vagas, my heart sank.  I'm glad you weren't on it.  That must have shook you pretty bad.  Did they ever figure what happened?

So you saw Brittney Spears.  Did you know, she's a native Southern Louisiana girl? I look forward to your reports.  Sounds like you had a great time both in Las Vegas and with the SoCal GTG. Now you have lots of good memories to hold you over till the next GTG.

Fondly,

Helen
