Andy, I use to play five times a week. My boyfriend and I were always at the top. It's fun having other players see you at the table and ask to be moved or hear someone say, 'she scare me.' lol. It's fun but Al became a bit too possessive and we broke up, with that, I decided to back off playing so much. I've won a couple of large 100 tournaments, but we're talking about local $50 and $100 prizes for 6/7 hours straight of intense concentration. It's not worth it. I'm down to one game a week until this past week. I played Tuesday night and two back to back local games last night placing fourth and sixth. As a matter of fact, I was going to play again tonight then stopped in my tracks, I don't want to start that cycle again. Instead, I'm staying home to follow up on posts.
Here's my favorite hand from last night... I caught pocket queens and pre-flop raised three times the pot. One player went all in with an A/J having less than my bet. A third player called my bet. The flop came up - 4h Qc 7d. I checked and so did the third player. The turn was a jack, I bet minimal but the third player went all in and I followed. He turned his cards up and said "I got you!" I turned up my queens and he shouted "NO!" The game's not up, there's still the river... one more jack and he'll have me. The river was a queen... he was excited thinking he had a full house over my queens... then it hit him, I had quad ladies. : o It was a giant pot. Toward the end of the game we were down to four players, I took a big risk going all in preflop, with pocket seven's thinking my opponent would fold. He called my pre-flop, all in bet only having an unsuited eight / nine (8/9 ?) and caught trip eights. : ( That's why it's called gambling, you never know how the cards are going to fall.
I'd love to come to the next GTG in LA meet everyone, I'm looking forward to that. As far as going to Vegas to play, that's a whole different ball game. Knowing your opponent has it's benefits however I wouldn't back down if I won a seat in the 2016 WSOP.
Give em heck Andy!
