You bring up an even bigger problem!

Anyone with this simple logical thought, the labor cost alone is many times more than $5000, the price of a new Rolex Oyster Perpetual. Unless Rolexes are made in a country with extremely low labor costs. But Rolexes are made in Switzerland, which has fairly high labor costs!
Then the other problem here is the fact that a credible expert is delivering the information. In a courtroom, expert witnesses are paid thousands for their advice and testimony. They are relied upon to provide information that is extremely accurate, on point, factual, and not easily misinterpreted. Furthermore, the expert witness is also subject to rigorous cross examination by opposing counsel. Now, while YouTube is not a court house, this expert witness is from a major watch news outlet. This gives our expert a lot of credibility where it may not be deserved!
But as you said, it's all up to the end user to believe it. But if you can't believe a supposed expert, who can you believe?
I don't believe everything I read or see on the news. And yes, I see a lot of mistakes in journalism. But this one surprised me.
