Watches and Wonders 2021: Tudor Black Bay Fifty Eight Yellow Gold and... Silver!

Apr 07, 2021,05:31 AM

An interesting offer, here: The daring Black Bay Fifty Eight in yellow gold:

And in silver!

Both have the good taste to be in 39 mm, as silver and gold weight quite a bit. So, for me, it is a good idea.

While the yellow gold is cool, here we have another green dial.

The silver is colder but more my taste, with its taupe dial.

Both come with a see through case back. Both are water resistant to 200 meters, and bot house the in house automatic movement.

I find both of them much more interesting than the Rolex novelties.

I just regret that absence of a BB GMT with a 39 mm case...

Best,

Nicolas

šŸ˜‚ You are probably right - adding this and the chronograph models Tudor has done a good job this year! Cheers, Peter

Not a big fan of green and gold...

It always seems that the Bay gets more attention than pelagos...but itā€™s not as good a watch IMO...

both are nicely designed and exude class

The display caseback also increases case thickness to 12.7mm, according to the Dink. Cheers Marc

The silver is nice

using that material on a diver takes courage... I wonder whether the case will get any patina

A display back for

the dullest movement known to humanity...and itā€™s added to the thickness of the watch!

I just watched their promo video for these, and the new chrono.

Everyone will have an opinion, and we should differ. But for me, so far today Tudor is winning. In large part I feel this way because of the price points.

+1, Jay.

Gold and silver it is wrong move I think,if I have to choose a diving chunk of gold Iā€™ll go to Rolex first ,I was set on BB 58 but they diluted the gorgeous vintage look diver ,by adding precious metal on a pure well sized utilitarian diver ,exposing a mo...

Love that silver black does silver compare to steel as a watch case ? I assume steel would be sturdier no ?

Rolsver? :)

Just ordered the Blue face . Canā€™t wait to get it .

Tudorā€™s new offerings are very appealing.

 By: BigAppleBill : April 7th, 2021-06:56
I really like the YG with green dial. 39mm is an excellent size. This could be a fun piece with a few imaginative strap choices. I would almost be tempted to order my first Tudor, but Iā€™m still having trouble getting past that chunky snowflake hour hand. ...

Maybe, maybe...

Amazing releases and like you said much more interesting then there big brothers.

 By: Watchonthewrists : April 7th, 2021-07:27
I already tried to order the silver BB58. Lets hope it will not have a long wait list and i will get this one as quickly as the blue one . Looking forward to see it in person

I totally concur.

Not for me either.

 By: Miles_151 : April 7th, 2021-07:39
The thing I love about Tudor is the target price of under Ā£5k. For me as soon as you go over that Iā€™d look else where. As already said Tudor precious metals are not for me and not what I expected from the brand. Iā€™m happy with my BBā€™s for now as I feel th...

The price is good considering that is silver ,

 By: Juliusotto : April 7th, 2021-07:57
but then the things I have from silver didnā€™t develop a very healthy looking patina if you know what I mean,

Also silver ,

Happened to excessively interact with the sweat of my wrist and let grey oxide marks on my skin

Exactly,

They actually sell more gold and les watches ,just like Rolex did with Pepsi GMT offered only in white gold for couple years before releasing the steel version.I know people having both gold and steel

Thanks for the post Nico.

 By: Johnny. : April 7th, 2021-10:36
I really like both of them, like the idea of a sliver case and love the gold even more. Indeed both should have a closed back and especially the gold one so there is more goooooold. The part I am afraid I disagree with most of you is the size, having the ...

What I think, too.

Imagine the patina developing

for the silver version over the next 30 years. I think, I will buy one for my 20 years old son. All in all great job for Tudor.

The YG Green is nice

 By: Quan : April 7th, 2021-23:59
but pricey.....

True that.

Hi Nicolas, Both are well executed and the yellow gold with green dial is...

 By: GLau : April 8th, 2021-02:39
especially attractive in terms of color combination !šŸ‘ To me, a more sporty rubber strap in light brown or military green would accentuate the dial

To me, ixnay on the yellow gold green dial...

 By: nacelle : April 16th, 2021-19:42
Really, too pricey for the brand IMO?

I canā€™t get into the snowflake hour hand - something about it looks unfinished

 By: Sportster : April 16th, 2021-20:46
Just go back to using the Benz hour hand and be done with it. The biz is owned by Rolex, everyone knows it - no need to hide it. If they want to use the snowflakes maybe play with the hour hand add some new goodness to it? If this is the Tudor version of ...
