Tudor, A clear new direction

Fancy an Oyster Perpetual?
When Davide Cerrato reinvented Tudor with the Black Bay and Monte Carlo chronographs his interview was very clear: a modern reinterpretation of vintage Tudor and a definite divergence from the Rolex design aesthetic i.e. a clear move away from the poor man’s Rolex syndrome.
Over the last few years, there is a clear trend towards becoming again aesthetically like the big brother. Just look at the new perpetual:

Rolex twin lock crown design, jubilee bracelet, Oyster case.
And clear design ethos based on classic vintage references.
Am I upset with this direction? Hell no. I love it actually, I believe this was what should have been in the first instance: but I will most probably be in a tiny minority.
Further evidence is in the new BB54. Its a clone of the ref 6536/5508 Rolex Bond Submariners. It now has the Rolex style crown, which we saw last year on the new BB Pro ( should have dine it on the Ranger too).
Also the minute hand is now a pencil hand. Be brave Tudor, do the hour hand as a pencil hand too. I hope the BB 58 follows suit.
Also we see the Rolex influence in the new burgundy BB 41
As well as the super jubilee bracelet

The biggest news is the Metas certified movement: not only thinner but dare I say it: the best movement technically in the Rolex/Tudor empire?
I believe the black and blue version will follow suit. This is a monster of a watch and at its price point: totally untouchable in the market place.
Now to have a BB 58 brevet crown, silver numerals bezel insert, pencil hands and red triangle…..
Best
