The Batman GMT

I think the all-black Sub just needs something more. I have the Hulk and like the added color.

Rolex: Sub or GMT?
By: Baron - Mr Red : December 20th, 2017-02:16
Frtom the current modern collection, the Sub and GMT are two of the world's most popular watches. Sometimes, one has a tendency to err towards one rather than the other. Obviously, there is no right or wrong answer, but merely an instinctive tendency towa...
The eternal question!!
By: Baron - Mr Red : December 20th, 2017-02:21
I do think we all have an instict towards one or the other.....not that there is any logic to that instinct, just an instinct.
yep....
By: Baron - Mr Red : December 20th, 2017-03:16
.....no question that we can have big loves in both camps....but instinctively i see you as a GMT guy.
GMT because
By: MTF : December 20th, 2017-02:22
Instintively, the GMT selected because we are more likely to be flying in aeroplanes than deep sea diving. The extra GMT hand is pretty and a bit of colour on the bezel can't be bad. I'd like a darker hue of blue but that breaks the 'keep it instintive' r...

Age plays its card

G. I used to comment on the Cyclops feature. Then, Age caught up with me and I'm glad for any help I get for reading. Regards, MTF

Ok ok

So GMT it is. I have never found the Sub really special despite it’s immense heritage and place in history. Probably because there are so so many of them and it is the public’s first ‘go to’ sports Rolex. (Just an illogical personal opinion of course) ...
hey Volker....
By: Baron - Mr Red : December 20th, 2017-03:12
.....your first was also a GMT, right? I think if i was pushed into buying a modern Rolex today, I would probably go SD4000.....I sort of like the white gold GMT too. Uhm....that doesn't really help much....does it.
Yep, my first Rolex was a GMT all black.
By: Pretty Boy : December 20th, 2017-03:32
Even though I’m not that much into Rolex anymore, I still find that they are making great and good looking sports watches. And like Porsche have been doing with the 911, they manage to “modernize” their icons in a diligent and prudent way so that their he...
Contrary to most, its the Sub for me
By: skyeriding : December 20th, 2017-03:58
The bezel is much simpler and refined in my opinion; the gmt feels too numerically cluttered. Perhaps it carries a more modern touch/styling that adhers better to my taste The sub has a choice between date or nodate as one prefers. The little pip at 12 of...
This is easy for me. Sub all day, every day.
By: zabreg1 Mr White : December 20th, 2017-04:36
A GMT is nice to have, but I am perfectly capable of keeping time in my head. A Sub is the quintessential Rolex, IMO. And no date, either.
The one time 'no date' works
By: MTF : December 20th, 2017-04:57
zabtrg1, No date on a Submariner makes sense as very few people stay underwater for more than a day. On the other hand, a date for a GMT travel watch must be essential. Or we have to cheat with a mobile electronic device and not rely on "the watch". Regar...
I agree (mostly).
By: zabreg1 Mr White : December 20th, 2017-05:35
But I am the kind of person that always knows exactly what tima and date are in (to me) relevant places. Thus, GMT is simply another pointy hand and isn’t much ise, cool as it looks. As for the Sub and date, yes, I don’t need it for overnight diving. But ...
Out of these two...
By: BentN : December 20th, 2017-05:59
I personally didn't think a second Surely the GMT. As long as possibly doable, I need a date. Even more so on a travel watch. Sure, no-date is understandable on a pure divers-watch like the Submariner, even I also "need" date on this model for every day u...
GMT!
By: Fla25 : December 20th, 2017-06:14
Tons of words already been spent, I had very same question some years ago, I'd say polished link, green hand and so on, but in reality is the heart that choses for you Cheers F
Your question is too difficult...
By: U3O8 : December 20th, 2017-07:24
I will just say I took the easy way out and bought both X2. 16700, 16610, 16610 LV and recently, the BLNR. Love them all. I'm no pilot but I do fly frequently, and I'm no saturation diver but I do dive frequently. So I enjoy my watches. And I have descend...
Fair enough.....
By: Baron - Mr Red : December 20th, 2017-07:36
Like you, I find joy in both styles. Although I think i give teh Sub the edge, there are just some days when a GMT is the only thing that works!
New Batman GMT for me
By: Mr Glass : December 20th, 2017-09:35
I am a big fan of timezone complications so it is an easy choice for me. The new GMT allows quick set for main time (rather than GMT hand) which I find more useful than the other way around. The blue/black bezel adds visual interest too. And (sorry) I lik...
GMT for me, but again, what do I know 😬
By: Clueless_Collector : December 20th, 2017-10:28
I just like how Rolex is able to blend the 2 ceramic colors seamlessly on the bezel. The small GMT complication and easy hour setting are added bonus. The blue looks great, happened to be wearing it today. Rgds Raymond ...
Submariner.
By: TheMadDruid : December 20th, 2017-11:32
The thing I don't find appealing about the GMT (and the Explorer II as well-and I know that is blasphemous) is the very thing that makes it a GMT, and useful. I hate the 24 hour hand dragging around the dial and confusing the hell out of me. I used to thi...
Sub no date
By: COUNT DE MONET : December 20th, 2017-11:44
I do not like polished links, I do not like the new cases generally. However, the Sub no date looks very elegant and pure: a purist' s Rolex!

Its a tool watch I can actually use! ...
Purely on looks alone..
By: Echi : December 20th, 2017-18:40
I’d go for the modern sub. And while I’m a no-date fan on average, I’d like to have that cyclops on the sub. I think it’s part of the Rolex DNA just as it is without. But if I were crossing date lines on a regular basis, I’d probably go for the GMT even i...
Submariner
By: emcquillan : December 20th, 2017-20:44
To me it's the perfect watch book aesthetically and practically. You can wear it anywhere for any occasion. Plus I'm biased and prefer world time watches to GMT with the second hour hand... with the exception of some vintage GMT and explorer, but sticking...
