Some more on the 1675 GMT Master I
I think the fascination and appreciation of the GMT is growing within the forum. I had a chance to take some picture of a nice example for you to enjoy.
The Rolex GMT was developed with the aviator in mind who need to have two time zones the second displaying (GMT) Greenwich Mean Time. It is believed that Rolex did the work in conjunction with Pan Am in the 1950's and the first reference to come out was the famous Rolex 6542 aka "Pussy Galore". Known also to have the Bakelite insert with all the issue that surrounded the materials and the atomic agency.
This is example is a gilt 1675 from 1966 just before the moved on to the matt dial and the larger 24hr hands started to appear. There was certainly an overlap so I am not purporting to know the true overlap but it is generally accepted that gilt dials featured the small 24-hour hand.
Enjoy the pictures.

.... i think i have such a queue of watches that I would love to hunt....and with three great GMTs already, I think its unlikely I will feel the GMT "thirst" before, for example, an early Sub, or transitional Sub. I have one Sub in my collection..... and ...

Once you discover the possibilities of this combination you really go to another level. It does not seem like such a big deal but when you start to compare specimens and you have dull and glossy gilt you can see the difference right away. Matt dials are i...
The Glossy Dials from '66 / ' 67 were perfect, indeed.

Funnily, that was not always the case in ' 64 / ' 65, from what I had the possibility to see... As for the combinations, the GMTs hide some real treasures: Underline, Exclamation Dot, SYL, Tiffany, F.A.P... And in the matt family, the U.A.E, the Tiffany, ...

There is some rubbing (not visible in that pic though) on the right side of the dial, and I'm not sure if it has been relumed or not. But overall it's not a bad piece, I still like it....
