I think the fascination and appreciation of the GMT is growing within the forum. I had a chance to take some picture of a nice example for you to enjoy. The Rolex GMT was developed with the aviator in mind who need to have two time zones the second displa...
...... you know me well.... ...but other times........ Lets have a small but public gamble..... within the next 2 years, if i buy any form of 6542 or 6541, then you win. If i do not add to my current three GMTs, then I win. Now you know me well enough tha...
.....so what you want is that I lose if I buy ANY GMT at all in addition to the three I have? Uhmmm, now that is a much harder thing. If i was to see a really beautiful tropical dial with awesome lume, could i resist that? This is like flipping a coin wit...
.... i think i have such a queue of watches that I would love to hunt....and with three great GMTs already, I think its unlikely I will feel the GMT "thirst" before, for example, an early Sub, or transitional Sub. I have one Sub in my collection..... and ...
... included some sleepless nights. Owner was a tough guy indeed. This exhausted my mind... and my pockets! Guess this IV 61 1675 well deserved it. Gloss-gilt and exclamation dot complete this "cornino" package. Can´t wait to have it in my hands and make ...
... dial. Case as several nicks and bumps, as it seems this one was a daily wearer for its original owner. But I asked not to polish it and remain completely original. It was a long dealing, but I feel worth it. Will get it this week and will post a few p...
... Nicolas. Found more interesting though, the "conversation" following the bet. Beyond the so practical "a la Francaise" example, involving those pretty girls, let me say that I have little doubt a 6542 will be in your collection in the next two years. ...
I had the same issues, when working on the topic. And, like Barion, I have a high level of exigence, when it comes to the 6542. The most important problem is the bakelite bezel: Finding an authentic one is difficlut... And in perfect condition, it is almo...
Once you discover the possibilities of this combination you really go to another level. It does not seem like such a big deal but when you start to compare specimens and you have dull and glossy gilt you can see the difference right away. Matt dials are i...
Funnily, that was not always the case in ' 64 / ' 65, from what I had the possibility to see... As for the combinations, the GMTs hide some real treasures: Underline, Exclamation Dot, SYL, Tiffany, F.A.P... And in the matt family, the U.A.E, the Tiffany, ...
Judging by my current trend It will takes me 50 years to get enough funding for my datograph. I can almost kiss it and say good bye. Bill you hang out with Nico too much. This 1675 is a killer. I love this small arrow and the insert to death. :0 Regards T...
So bad that it's good. Picture a very glossy dial and then and then go 10x glossy and that what you have here. Crazy stuff this glossy business. I can see the gmt is crawling under your skin. Blame Vlad. Bill
The watch looks fantastic. Beautiful gloss strong gilt. Looks like a PCG. Sweet faded insert. swiss t<25 over 5 index markers. Full package. What more can you want. Show us some more. Bill
There is some rubbing (not visible in that pic though) on the right side of the dial, and I'm not sure if it has been relumed or not. But overall it's not a bad piece, I still like it....
The camera operates in strange ways. It is never fair choosing what the lens and the light want to feature. I hope it is not relumed as that takes away a little but if you like it enjoy it. Lazy hands sometimes create a circular swirl when they are fitted...
