Rolex 1675 Blueberry with a twist. The legend the Mystery the Myth.

The Rolex GMT-Master ref. 1675 with the rare "Blueberry" bezel is one of the most sought-after vintage Rolex models, prized for its unique aesthetic and military connections. Unlike the iconic "Pepsi" (red and blue) bezel, the all-blue insert—often called "Blueberry"—offers a more understated yet striking appearance. While its exact origins remain debated among collectors, evidence suggests these inserts were produced in the early 1970s, possibly as special orders for military personnel who required a monochromatic bezel for discreet timekeeping.

If the legend were true we could easily associate this particular variation to UAE armed forces, especially pilots and soldiers who wore the GMT-Master during the 1970s. The theory is that the solid blue bezel provided a more functional alternative to the two-tone "Pepsi," avoiding the red segment's potential visibility in tactical situations. Some speculate that Rolex may have supplied these inserts through private military contracts, though no official records confirm this—adding to the mystique.


Due to its rarity—far scarcer than the "Pepsi" or "Root Beer" variants—the Blueberry commands a significant premium at auction. Well-documented examples with provenance tying them to military use are especially coveted. However, collectors should be cautious, as aftermarket blue inserts exist; verifying authenticity through serial numbers, case stamps, and provenance is critical.
