Questions about this Rolex Datejust 16018 - Buckley dial
Hello All.
I've just bought this 1978 Datejust from a well-know merchant in Bordeaux, France. It's had two previous owners - both professional collectors - so comes in near-original condition. It's also been recently serviced.
I'm going to pay a visit to John Buckley in New York City for a chat. In the meantime, I'd love to receive owner experiences and tidbits you might have about this execution. I've already soaked up much of what's available online, so am more interested in personal accounts right now.

I've noticed that Buckley dial Datejusts do not get much attention from general Rolex fans. That seems to be the case across fora. It's been about 12 years since they acquired the nickname and, while this has prompted some interest, it's still a sleeper. ...

I agree with you in terms of these dials being very distinctive, and looking at the Rolex catalogue they do stand out. Do you think that some dials, based on colour and the case they sit in, are maybe too classic in styling for the newer collector and so ...

Lovely. I toyed with the idea of combining my like for a Buckley with a Day Date too.
In the end I took the simpler route. I think it'll work better with the lifestyle I've found myself in. Enjoy yours. I'm sure it's a very private treat.
