Having seen and enjoyed posts of your incredible collection I notice that you enjoy colour in a piece. The Smurf is an amazing watch...

but so is the new version, in my estimation.
There is quite a difference between the old and new six digit Submariner versions, although I haven't yet handled the new one personally.
Many seem to really enjoy the new proportions and I like the black dial with the blue bezel, although it's not as immediately attention grabbing as the Smurf there is much to be said for subtlety.
I wouldn't let the fact you own the Smurf stop you from owning the latest, in that it wouldn't be redundant imho. I have two ceramic GMTs and don't feel it's redundant, rather they make a great pair. Same for my little white dial OPs, never thought of it as overkill to have both, rather I see them as a great team.
I can't answer your question as posed but if your decision may hinge on some of the points I've raised then I'm glad to have been of some help.
