I did both in white gold and rose gold...
The rose gold is a bit too feminine I think and the white gold -- depending on the dial -- can be truly gorgeous but I don't think much understated as the daytona is such an iconic piece. Still for me the no date is a bit of a breaking point but I might get a daytona sooner or later. My initial birthday project was the platinum daytona but I realised that too many people have it just because is the most expensive so it is not as cool as the submariner
