Give it some time
As someone wearing doxa subs with tiny dials or a 36mm railmaster on average 7in wrist, it does take time for your brain to adjust. After a while it just looks perfect. I still enjoy wearing my panerai once in a while but give it time and you will be very happy with the end result is my experience.
I actually think it's perfect on your wrist
36mm is not small, and I think it's better suited in most cases compared to the larger sizes. This sits really nice on your wrist. Richard

I don't think it's just for smaller wrists...
...it might look small at first on my 7.25" wrist, but I think I would quickly get used to it. Smaller, lighter, and less obtrusive.

It may be at the upper limit of size for you. You may be a 34mm type of guy.
