By popularity, A Datejust?
By sport model, Submariner?
By celebrity, Newman Daytona?
By movie, Bond Big crown Sub?
By rarity, Killy, Milgauss?
By military, the 5517 or even Panerai Militare from the 30s/40s?
and there's the Sir Hillary's Explorer 1, PanAm's GMT, Comex's SeaDrewller .....
The answer will never be clear 
For me personally I associate popularity with the term iconic which mean to me the Datejust and Submariner. That doesn't mean I like the watch though. I only have a vintage Subs. Not liking the Datejust very much.
Did I hear you right? You sold 2 Turbograph for a daytona! You must have gotten at least dozens of daytona. Please show

Iconic is very relative.
For some, it is a Jean Claude Killy, for others, as Paul Newman, or a 6542, or any Big Crown... A DRSD MAK Patent Pending may well be considered as an Icon, as well as a 5517... For me, nothing can beat a nice GMT, from the 6542 to the 1675. Or a nice Tud...
