While preventing fakes is definitely in the interest of the manufacturer as well as the customer, this seems rather pointless and silly.
The whole purpose of participating in an exhibition is to enhance brand visibility, create a market for new offerings and encourage visitors to get as close to the watches as possible; and that includes allowing visitors to photograph the models.
If a photograph is all that takes to create replicas, then what is RM going to do when thousands of customers walk into all the ADs and handle / photograph their various models. IMHO this is a classic case of over reaction and the least effective way of preventing fakes most of all. Perhaps next, RM will be asking the ADs to sign a declaration that they will not allow any customer to click photographs of the RM watches on display in their showcases!! I am sure that the other Manufactures are laughing too at this naivety.
I would love to see the reactions of those AHCI members that use base movements of other Manufactures ( some from NOS stocks of archived calibers of those long defunct manufactures) to build their watches, leave alone photographing them!!!
