善光寺 (Zenkō-ji) temple in Nagano City...
was built in the 7th century and is one of the few remaining pilgrimage sites in Japan.
The main Buddhist image, a hidden Buddha statue, is rumored to be the first Buddha statue to ever be brought to Japan. A replica of the statue is shown publicly once every six years, the next scheduled display will take place in the spring of 2021.
