An interesting comparison, albeit full frame vs. medium format ...
as the outcome is almost unnoticeable with the right editing software. However, the workflow from a dedicated monochrome camera is so much easier with higher iso performance, dynamic range, and sharper images to begin with. With my Q2M I normally shoot jpegs & use the images SOOC to save time. Your previous post with the photo from the M246 is a good example of what it can achieve. I've not tried the X1D2 but have used my friend's X2D. All I can say is the camera feels premium and is ideal for landscape & portraiture with the best colour science IMO but like you said the 100mp files are huge & cannot be reduced in-camera like the M11. Autofocus is much improved with the new XCD lenses and the latest firmware upgrade with face detection is a welcome addition. I've thought long & hard about this camera & the newer 907x 100c but realistically, both are overkill for my needs and usage. The Nikon Zf is probably more suitable as I mainly shoot street and travel photos & I won't need to sell body parts. I begin to digress and don't want to move on to camera gear talk as getting out there and taking photos is the main objective.
here's one taken with the Q2M jpeg, cropped.

I’ll spare you guys the guess work Leica M246 Monochrom, 24mp Hasselblad X1D2, 60mp, BW conversion With the X at 60mp, I’m thinking I can ditch the M246 already. BW conversion is quite decent if I benchmark tonality vs a BW camera like the M246. Also inte...

I think there are really two things you highlight: input - the process that makes you happiest, output - how good the images look after processing. With a rangefinder it takes a while to unlearn the quicker process of autofocus and to remind yourself that...
Q3

I’m using one and experimenting with cropping. The recent images posted here were taken with the Q3 and cropped, then I applied Denoise software as the ISO was 3200 and above. So a double stress test. I like the results but will keep experimenting and twe...
3200 is fine
By: le_chef : February 13th, 2024-15:32
6400 is fine. It’s only when you go to 12800, or you need to crop images severely that you need denoise when above 3200. As I said when the image is cropped to approx 18MP and is at 3200 ISO or higher do you need denoise. I might add some of the B&W image...
