tough decision
both are nice in their own ways.. the white does grows on you. Much depends which color suits you better. So some people, they carry the blue dial better..whereas for others, the white. If in doubt, get another person to come along to compare and give honest opinions.. that's what I do usually.. hope this helps !
Congrats to your 5980 white !

NAUTILUS 5980 - BLUE Vs WHITE
By: Alex83 : July 24th, 2014-15:44
Good evening dear Purists, My dealer sent me a 5980 white dial to compare with the blue one I recently got from him and eventually swap it; I know the blue is more popular but I am really loving the white one...so clean and harmonious.. What would you say...
I knew you would say that

wow that was quick Nico, I know you prefer the blue but, did you wear the white one for a little while? it really grows on you, during the day it radiates light and can sort out a formal dressing or casual. at night I agree the blue one recovers protagoni...

White one

I would go for the white one. For me it's more "special", timeless and clearer, and you can wear it on all occasions. But I think you have allready made your decision :-) Cheers, Thomas
Let me see....

You have the blue 5980 and AP 15202. You're trying to convince yourself (hence your question here) that the white dial is better. And then you go on to rationalize "since I have the AP the white 5980 is better". I wouldn't do it. If you like the white 598...
First impressions

I think you need to trust your initial impressions. I would go for the white if it were not for the black bordered hour markers. It is rare that a watch grows on me, and these markers would always be an eyesore for me. So in this case, the blue hands down...
My liking is ...

towards the blue dial, like many of the others. The white dial has little colour contrast on the dial and that makes it seem plain. White looks good on some models, like calatravas 5227 but not a Nautilus. Doesn't bring out the "strength" of the watch. Ha...
now you made me think twice

Good approach Glau, I had not considered how the color of the 5980 was going to fit in my small PP collection...and now I have a doubt as I realize that I tend to go for the white dials. Here a few pictures of the other 2 princes, the 5205 and the 5070G (...
No doubts

In my thinking at least when it comes to who should be joining your PP family. Mr Blue of course! But not knowing your lifestyle a bit hard to tell. If you ski more than sunbathe perhaps the white 5980. But if more time spent in the sun, blue! Good luck.
White

I love blue dials, but the white Nautilus is more sporty than the blue one IMHO. Since you already own other great classic PPs, I would go with the most modern looking of the Nautilus family: white!
Great point of view, Alex

If you can get the 'daring' version (white), do it. As for the traditional PP design approach, you are already doing more than good with the other watches in your collection. I have a friend who owns the 5980 white dial and, man, what a piece! Congratulat...

Personally I feel that the blue belongs to the 3700 or 3712 (or 5711/12). The chrono looks much more in balance in white/silver. And more sporty. And more versatile. It stands out more. Patek also stopped producing it, at least I've that read somewhere, s...
