I see watches and all other material things we acquire just as trophies of achievements. And for me a watch, especially a rare one, is a trophy which does not tell anything to others but a lot to myself.

But I agree, it's not a bad thing if one carries a watch which is getting some attention - if the owner likes that.

My next watch is a rare Patek, very wanted, but very understated. It might get the attention of a Purist but others will not recognise the watch at all. Such an understatement watch is perfect for me. You can comment that in less than two weeks.
