Also, gold on men is not as universal as it used to be so the steel,fliesnunder the radar more. I LOVE gold but yu cantnwear it everywhere and on all occasions. everyone prefers ss
and I am no exception. The "original" Nautilus and a sport watch should be made of something durable like ss or carbon etc. Very comfortable and well made bracelet. Gold for dress watches. Look at the secondary market pricing, it reflects the situation.

i have 5712 and I love it. for me this watch is associated with ss only. i just do not like it in gold.

Since you already have 5980 1A ss I suggest you go for a rose gold. I agreed that nautilus is more a steel image but the rose gold 5712 on straps looks Awesome You wouldn't go wrong with either ss or rg you will love the 240 cal. Good luck. Regards, Randy...
