Patek Philippe

This was the number 1 watch on my list for a decade and it is crazy to think about how much time and money and thought and emotion that was expended in getting it. Now, I am enjoying the process of getting acquainted with it! ...

I miss mine - I don't wear mine anymore due to safety concern because now it's so well recognized where I seem to go.

I must live around a bunch of country bumpkins. Not a single person has recognized it. The only person who said something: "That is an ugly watch and I have to imagine you paid too much for it."

When I first saw the Nautilus as a teenager, I didn't like it at all. I thought it had ears. I thought I was going to get a JLC Reverso as my first watch - in fact I was set on it. But somehow, I ended up with a Patek Philippe Nautilus. At first I wanted ... 

The first time I saw it I was not a fan but somehow you warm up to it. I do prefer, maybe in the 2006-2010 range, when this was an enthusiast's watch - a little bit of inside baseball. Thanks for sharing your origin story!

I still think the watch on its own looks a little naked. It needs to have a wrist! It's like the watch is the art, the wrist is the frame. The art looks naked without a frame.

I know the feeling. You must be a very happy man. I got both of my grails too, so now I am not looking for any more watches 5980A 5711A ...  

Sadly, this sickness being just that, I already have my sights set on other things - however, in fairness, I cultivated other interests over the decade that I was waiting!

I like these types of stories the best. Wear it in the best of health.

Congrats Josh. I like it to go for the difficult route. A watch that is easy to get wil never give so much as for watches that needs to be hunted for. Investigate, trial and error, time, and get on the wrist a watch that is crazy when you think what you a...
