Patek Pickup Trip - 5204 & 5960
A lot of you guys really encouraged me to pick up my pieces even though they were halfway across the world. So I did, and it was quite worth the long trip. I finally got the time to really take some pictures yesterday so I thought I'd share with you guys here.
The ceremony
Trying it on for the first time. Note that it hasn't been wound and adjusted at all.
Date is changing Sunday night.
Came with a bunch of other goodies like this travel box, a pen, loupe, and gloves. This was really nice because not every AD is so generous with these giveaways.
Mesmerizing. A friend joked that I should wear it upside down from time to time=)
I also picked up my 5960P-015, here's picture so it doesn't feel neglected:
Some immediate notes comparing these two:
- The 5204, even though having more complications than the 5960, is noticeably lighter.
- The strap on the 5960 is thicker
- Pushers on the 5204 are extremely smooth. Pushing the return to zero button is completely effortless, as if no gears are actually engaged.
- I think there is some luminous material on the very very tip of the chronograph hands, but I haven't confirmed this.
- Resetting the chronograph on the 5960 is a bit "stiff", but it's great that it can be kept running without wearing on the gear train
Overall, a very happy camper but way over this year's budget for watches. Now need to find the Misses something to make myself feel less guilty!
