Patek Philippe

not that often ....

not often am I completely wrong smile but in this case I guess I did not understand the market.

I believe the 5135 is Patek's best annual calendar ever made. others like the 5146, 5205, 5396 are nice pieces for sure but not one has imo the strong character like the Gondolo case 5135. And ... it has a great size for a Patek, big but not too big.

Only introduced in 2006 and already discontinued in 2011 or so (?) so only in production 5 or 6 year. And no, it dit not get an update like the 5035 became the 5146. Or like the worldtimer 5110 became the 5130. Patek took it out of production and nothing similar was introduced the next year.
They made this reference in all possible versions one would expect, so the red, yellow white gold and platinum case. Some had different dial combinations. The 5135G for example was available with silver dial and slate grey dial.

That last one together with the R were imo the most beautiful. Can you imagine back in 2006 I even hesitated between this and a 5070R? My budget preferred the 5135 smile but my heart went for the 5070R
Imo the best decision but since then I can't stop thinking about a 5135

Weeks ago a friend of mine bought one and I took some pictures.
Look at that watch, what a presence!  Such a well shaped case , so much more than most 'round' simple cases

From the start I thought this would be a winner but somehow it was not a big succes. They did not sell good and that was probably the reason why it survived only 5 or 6 years.
Maybe, within 20-30 years, this might be a sought after piece. Those that were not popular in the past sometimes become very sought after in the future

And most interesting ... even today they are still a bargain on the secondhand market. Unbelievable you can get this complicated gold watch for the same price as a stainless stee simple 5711.
So I am wrong or the market still doesn't understand this gorgeous watch
