A strong character indeed but
Jan 17, 2016,04:19 AM
Maybe a bit too strong for most; that may explain why it did not do well at the time and even now: in general the masses like round shaped watches then square, leaving tonneau or gondolo type of cases at the bottom of the average wish list. Same for the current 5940 recently reviewed by Mark.
Looking back you went for the 5070R at the time so you got it right, this one is readily available on the pre-owned market so you did in the right order from a money perspective. But you liked this one at the time and now you have one, so it ends well from a buy-what-you like perspective ☺
Best,

not that often ....
By: Bruno.M1 : January 17th, 2016-02:05
not often am I completely wrong but in this case I guess I did not understand the market. I believe the 5135 is Patek's best annual calendar ever made. others like the 5146, 5205, 5396 are nice pieces for sure but not one has imo the strong character like...

it is more about the fact that people are much less attracted by shaped watches The stronger the character and style, the narrower the potential clients. However, when they do, they usually really love them. I like the 5200 quite much (and the beautiful f...
True.

I am also a fan of 5940 but till now have been resisting the temptation. Best Kari

went for my wife. It was checked by PP watchmaker and the watch is, like claimed when I bought it, new. However, in this case the oils of the old watch had dried up completely and it's under service now. The new straps, orange, red, white & yellow are on ...
The aftermarket is right but only "most" of the time.

Things can change overnight. I have had mine since 2007 and I still can find a replacement. I even wear it during summer! I just change it from "suit" to "Bermudas"... P.s. Looking at aftermarket prices I just realized that they do sell higher that what t...
That's a fantastic shot

I understand this is not everybody's cup of tea but I have recently acquired certain "allergy" issues that have made me change my strap habits slightly.
First, it depends how it is done

and in this case it is very nicely done imho. And I like the style contrast. Furthermore, when it comes to less classical choices (in terms of case shape, dial colors, straps material etc...), it will always appeal to a smaller number of persons. Bu sure ...
Look at that!

That is an amazing shot! Now it\'s got me curious about this annual calendar piece... Oh no
Intriguing piece
By: keks : January 17th, 2016-04:10
Have to admit I have not really paid this one much attention but it certainly is quite appealing. The oversized dimensions make it stand out quite a bit, somehow in the way that the 5070 does in my mind. The dial of the 5135P is quite attractive I think. ...

I am not very familiar with this watch.
By: geross : January 17th, 2016-10:44
But its beautiful , i like it. The form watches of Patek are really nicely done. Its a deviation from a round watch. The annual calendar engine adds variety to this model. Great conversation piece. My admiration to the owner. Thanks for sharing your joy. ...
You are so very right.

These are major bargains now and for those who desire a larger looking PP, this is the one to get. That coupled with such a nice complication for such a nice discount is sure shot winner. It will, for sure, be very desirable for the patient collector.
Agree

with your comments. My preference is the 5135R. It's really lovely and warm, plus an interesting dial !
Another very nice version
