No losers in this choice....

 

The 5131 is a superb world time. With the enamel dial it has echoes of the very earliest PP world timers. Aesthetically, it is a joy and pleasure to wear. A superb watch.

But so too is the 5970. Fantastic balance on the dial....beautiful proportions and of course a fabulous complication.

Genuinely, i think both watches are PP icons. I suspect that there are probably more 5970s than 5131s....probably, and that explains the price move. But both are icons and will become increasingly desirable.

If you stuck the money in my hand and asked me to select, I would probably take the 5970.....but it is not an easy choice as both watches offer something quite special.

I kind of like 5970 a little bit more than 5131. The merits of 5131: 1. the enamel dial, which carries 99.9% of the value of the watch 2. the 240 caliber with micro rotor. I also like micro rotor when comparing to large, obscuring rotor like 324 caliber. ...

World Time 5131 is "just" a World Time with fancy dial. I know it from experience that it's a bit difficult to read the time and the watch is a kind of jewellery. At the same time 5970 is an iconic Grand Complication of Patek. I would, without any hesitat...
