My biased vote for the 5131

I have seen in images a very few 5131Js where the maps are quite detailed. Mine is not one of those, unfortunately.

5231j for me

Congratulations on obtaining the 5231. The brown strap picks up the brown on the dial very nicely. Looks great on your wrist!

They are both quite desirable but the 5231 for me with the strap from the 5131!

Yes, I can see where the yellow stitch might not be for everyone. Can’t switch even if I wanted to add variety. 21mm for 5131 and 20 mm for 5231.

Are they both PP straps?

Yes, they are both Patek custom straps. While I can’t say with certainty likely, “shiny royal blue alligator”.

My goodness. This 5131J is totally different from what I saw from all sources previously.

bias to 5131...i still cant get over plonking PP on the dial when everyone who needs to know will recognise this as a PP and obscures the enamel work which is the very reason you buy the watch

Great point! The map is quite small to begin with, so why clutter it with the name? Traditionalists, however, feel it belongs on the dial.
