Patek Philippe

Joe, you have done much more than a "decent job" in answering the question "vintage or modern"?

Thanks for your detailed and very interesting analysis.
While emotion enters into your equation, to me it seems to be a laser sharp methodology. First pick the type of watch, e.g. WT or perpetual, then decide what era produced the most appealing (here's where emotion enters) examples of that type of watch.
For me, 5070 has it all as a "simple" chronograph. 5370P is new to the Patek family, but I think that these 2 models might well be the best Patek non perpetual chronos ever.
I think when it comes to perpetuals and perpetual chronos, there are great examples, both vintage and modern, from 2497/2438 to 5050/5496. From 1518/2499 to 3970/5020/5970.
Hard to beat the modern WTs unless one has a spare $2-3,000,000 for a 2 button cloisonné 1950s WT.
I agree for time only vintage in general carries the day, but 5227 with "enamelish" paint on dial and superb case is a great watch.
Best, patekova
