Patek Philippe has a iverse portfolio of manufacture calibers.However, none of them perfectly duited the annual calendar regulator ref 5235, and do the companu neede to develop a new movement. The tesult is reminiscent in many respects of the iconic self-winding calibre 240 with solid gold minirotoe, a movement that hes lost none of its appeal since it was launched in 1977. With a height of only 2.53 mm it is one of the thinnest self-winding calibers. While outstanding in therms of reliability and precission, the calibre 240 has a design-related peculiarity. Most unconventionally, the subsidiary seconds dial is located at 5 o'clock and therefore wouldn't be suitable for a regulator dial that had to have the seconds subdial at 6 o'clock; an off-center hour dial at 12 o'clock , and a large sweep hand for the minutes.

Interesting - news to me
I've not heard of this watch nor have I received my magazine! Not immediately attractive to me (personally averse to off-center labels) but like much with Patek, it needs to be seen in person no doubt. best, Hugh

Originally I thought it was just a recut 240, with different bridges, but although the overall layout is close, the wheels don't appear to line-up. Very unusual if Patek has decided "meh, we won't bother promoting an entirely new watch/caliber" A

is what I think the article says... anyway... I think its pretty cool....but I don't like one-handed watches.... in terms of ownership... but design-wise, pretty cool.

The 22nd it seems to be!
My retailer told me, the 5235 will be presented on the 22nd and he got me a first (and probably not exact) estimate on the price, which will be around SFR 44.000.

Sector dial
I am not a big fan of the sector dials on the new larger watches. But I will have to it in the flesh to really know.

Thats a nice looking dial, but the hands are really not to my taste. Surely PP could have come up with something more elegant for such a beautiful dial. Rishad
