Cal. 240
... and so the Ref. 3940 did (since 1987), though it is moving a perpetual calender also. My Ref. 6000 houses a Cal. 240 also - up to now there weren't any problems.

Movement

Originally I thought it was just a recut 240, with different bridges, but although the overall layout is close, the wheels don't appear to line-up. Very unusual if Patek has decided "meh, we won't bother promoting an entirely new watch/caliber" A

Genesis of a new movement Patek Philippe has a iverse portfolio of manufacture calibers. However, none of them perfectly duited the annual calendar regulator ref 5235, and do the companu neede to develop a new movement. The tesult is reminiscent in many re...
Don't love it so far...

Interesting new movement. I always liked micro-rotor automatics so I'm finding that I'm actually staring at the picture of the new movement rather than the pictures of the dial. But I rarely like regulators and this one is not particularly appeasing to my...

Hi, Thank you for the info. I've not heard of it. I've heard that there's a Patek Philippe press conference soon but I'm not invited. Maybe that's the reason..... Cheers Dje

Just got my copy of the Patek-Mag (German edition seems a bit late) and fell immediately in love with the new 5235. So I picked up the phone to call my patek-dealer and was surprised, that they have never heard of that watch. It is probably too early to a...
I would be concerned..

to wear this watch. It has a mini rotor, notorious for its less than desirable efficiency to wind. There are many stories out in the cyberspace regarding winding inefficiencies of similarly powered 240 calibers. Therefore, I would be concerned that this l...
They enlarged the mini-rotor

"The movement is now 2,60mm high (0,07mm higher than the original 240), because the went for a thicker and therefore heavier rotor, which increases his ability to power the movement." That is, what the PP-Mag states in the german edition. Please excuse my...

nonsense
By: amajidi1 : June 17th, 2011-07:17
This particular criticism of the mini-rotor is nonsensical and uninformed. firstly, separate the issue of efficiency of wind from power: once the rotor powers the spring, its job is done. If you're worried about the ability of the watch powering complicat...
