Question to the Patek Grand Complication owners
By: Robert65 : November 11th, 2020-03:46
During pre-COVID times, were you able to wear your Grand Complication to work (assuming office job) and during commute which may involve some street/subway/sidewalk environments? I'm curious because I don't know if these pieces are most often left in the ...
My own personal thoughts are this.

I wear and enjoy each and every single watch I have ever owned. Absolutely no point in having them and not wearing them. Having said that I have always been very careful not to have certain watches on show and have always been very choosy about what watch...
I agree.

Golf, fishing, jet skiing, swimming. Life is defiantly too short. Even the most risky of events.....letting your other half enjoy your treasures. I must be mad. A couple of pics for you. M. ...
You are my hero!

Definitely not at your level but try to enjoy these watches to their fullest extent. I tend to follow a rule for water sports. Min 20m WR - pool 50m - snorkeling 100m - waterski and free diving 200m - scuba Cheers Peter
Thank the Lord I’m not on my own here my friend.

I’m sure Some think I’m reckless or unappreciative of my watches but this is not the case. I adore them all from a Patek GC to a Tudor BB but have always said the day I stop being able to wear them is the day I buy my last watch and sell them all. Sadly t...

are my Patek Philippe pieces. Very few people in 25 years of collecting have ever noticed ( or commented) on any of my Patek Philippe material. When I have been wearing Rolex, people tend to notice. I totally agree with the notion that there is no point i...
Baufoam, many thanks!

You answered my question and helped. After all, I'm not talking about security from theft/robbery or unwanted attention... i'm simply asking if such important pieces are worn much for everyday activities such as at the office and walking around. Once agai...
Robert, I don’t own any “Grand Complication” but...

...I think I can answer your question anyway. I have several pieces which either as a result of the passage of time or other factors have seen increases in value. While I still wear these watches I do tend to baby them more than before BECAUSE of this cha...
Excellent information Jay - many thanks!

A good deal of responsible planning is required - very sensible. Thinking through modes of transportation, locations that you might want to visit, clothing to wear, people you might run into, etc. The way you speak of planning out the activities of the da...
Broader then just Patek

If I understand your question correctly, you would like to learn how people wear such types of watches lets for argument sake call them the higher end watches (priceless relevant but for argument, sake take 50K+. If so, then the issue is broader than just...
I wear all my watches

I wear my Lange Zeitwerk daily and used to wear some of my other $$$ pieces daily too. No issues for me. I rotate between Vancouver and Salt Lake City though and both cities are very very safe. I also don't look very robbable though lol
Yes I do wear them to the office everyday

I alternate most of the time between a 5270P, 5550P and 5960A To be honest no one notices and I distinctly remember going around HK with my 5711. My wife and I ate at a fancy restaurant and after dinner, the waiter complimented my wife's Rolex datejust wh...
I agree to wear what you own and enjoy it,

but, I am also aware, it is not stolen until it is. Wearing anything in public you cannot easily replace or shrug off is probably not a great idea.
Tough question, easy answer
By: Chimaera : November 12th, 2020-10:23
Like most here, I buy them to wear them. I am not wealthy or cavalier, but if I lose it in a robbery that is a chance I’m prepared to take. I have been mugged too many times to count, in a couple of coups d’etat and just yesterday evening I had to deal wi...
Chimaera, May I ask where you live?

Not sure if you're unlucky with that many assaults, in the wrong place at the wrong time or just a dangerous area. Keep safe! Best, Robert
