5002P cuts in very close for me. I would have to try it on, but agree that it is a truly beautiful watch. Quite a lot of agreement on the 5070s. The choice in the 5070s is taste, i agree. For me, I am not a big fan of the greyish dial, so that would rule ...
So many watches from the PP I adore. I think my choice would be 5004P and will be 5970P. If I had to choose from vintage 2499 and 1563 (a split seconds chrono late 40's).
Something old (2438) Something new (5159G) Something different (Star Caliber!) and something blue (5102) ...then again if money was truly no object I would commission PP to build me my own wristwatch! This message has been edited by KCLQMULKU on 2009-05-1...
The 5140, one of the best perpetual calendars on the market. Period. And some sort of minute repeater, preferably one with the cathedral gongs. But I'm still working on starting off with the first Patek; which is neither of the two.
Let's see: A chrono for everyday and a Minute Repeater or Tourbillion for dress-up? Easy with Patek: How about a 5970P and a 3939P, best of both. OK, time to wake-up!
So, the voting is now in. One hell of a lot of people gave their choice for their dream top 2 watches. And, reading the results in reverse order..... Honourable mentions for 3939, 5078, 5004, 5110 and 5016 who all recorded several hits. But...in third pla...
Considering one has a double chrono, I'm just wondering why the 5970 scored more votes than the 5004. Is there some other difference that makes the 5970 more desirable. fnk

I've been watching this thread and wrote a reply seven times, only to delete. I've finially decided that I just can't decide. So best not to There are just too many great watches to choose from. Now if I had to pick a top 15, that's easy: 3974G, 5970G, 51...
pretty expensive high end pieces. Do we really aspire to the most expensive range of PP because they are expensive or is that what we really want. Yes we would all love a double split minute repeating tourbillon thingy in expensium double coated platinum ...
but seriously, the most desirable watch of modern Patek tends to be very expensive and hi-end. You know that the effort are emphasized there. It's unfortunate but true. One of my desired piece, 2499 is expensive because of what the market demands for...bu...
The chosen pieces are the acme of horology (i.e. 5016, 5959) both either in handicraft and ability to squuez in so many complications in a small space (i.e., 5016 is just 37 mm) and 5959 (also 36 mm). That's is the cream of the cream, agree? And they are ...
I agree we are all amazed by high end horology and I understand the fascination witht these pieces but where is the love, I ask As a purist I think we should look beyond all the complications and dare I say it, hype of the tourbillon, split second chrono ...
Very few picked the 5002 which is the most expensive Patek.. If everyone here picked the three metals of 5002 as most coveted then you'd be right. There was recently a story on CNN that most expensive wines are prefered in a blind taste test (expensive wi...
For my part, i voted for 5970P and 5070P. Does that mean I have lost sight? I don't think it does. If I was told that all of my watches with the exception of one had to be destroyed by government decree (!) which one would I keep? Well, it would be a 1957...
