Patek Philippe

FOUND: Ref 5959

I did a search of my old report and I did mention the reference number...I had forgotten that I did.  smile

The marvel of the SEARCH button revealed the ultra-thin mechanical manually wound movement; Caliber CHR 27-525 PS; Split seconds monopusher chronograph with 60-minute counter.  Revealed in 2005 but I did not see one until 2007 in Geneva Boutique.  SFr 400,000?!?  Really?

I should have asked why with just a split seconds chronograph, Patek Philippe would call it a Grand Complication (GC)?  In my mind, a GC should have three of the complications: Perpetual Calendar, Minute Repeater and Split seconds Chronograph.  Some people throw in a Tourbillon as a 4th 'complication' but it is not mandatory and certainly not difficult to do these days.

I hear the new black dial version is better but we have no clear photos since nobody has posted.  We have some quick photos from Baselworld but the lights are harsh.

Regards,

MTF
