Patek Philippe

Excellent post, Imran!

Thanks for your efforts in bringing us this latest from Patek.  I feel rather like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde about this watch.  I reserve the right to change my mind after seeing it in the flesh, but at first glance the dial underwhelms on so many levels -- the proportion of negative space on the left side creates a visual void that sucks my gaze into that side of the watch and won't let go; the aggressively positioned date aperture eating into the small seconds display (Why!) is an eyesore too, and I'm still unconvinced about the position and slightly sweeping shape of the day/month windows.  Did this watch really need to be a regulator AND an annual calendar?  Too much of a good thing is, well, still too much.

On the flip side, literally and figuratively, I am enjoying the movement design quite a bit.   The layout of the bridges has a unifying dynamic, and I just adore the micro-rotor.  We'll see how this piece does.  It will engender strong feelings amongst WIS, which is perhaps positive in itself.

Cheers,
Daos
